Josh Kern is an experienced writer and B2B content marketer who helps clients big and small produce copy and content that builds awareness, drives traffic, generates leads and fuels revenue growth.
Josh is currently helping lead the content marketing and SEO efforts at Clio as a Content Strategy Manager. Josh and his team ensure that Clio’s content achieves top search results and effectively educates prospects throughout their buying journey, while supporting Clio’s efforts to transform the legal experience for all.
Josh is also the principal at Josh Kern Consulting, where he helps clients determine their content marketing needs, develop content strategies, and execute those strategies.
Josh is also an Editor at Raptors HQ, SB Nation’s Toronto Raptors team blog, where he delivers post-game analysis of every Toronto Raptors basketball game and contributes regular blog posts on Raptors team and player-related news, and the world of NBA basketball in general. He also edits and approves content developed by staff writers and contributors, and is one of the voices of Raptors HQ on social media.
In 2018, Josh first dipped his toes into B2C and entertainment marketing, as the social media voice of the Shaftesbury Productions/CBC television program Frankie Drake Mysteries.
In 2016, after more than a decade of client-side B2B marketing, Josh stepped out of his comfort zone to go agency side, first at Brainrider, a Toronto-based agency focused on B2B pipeline marketing, as Director, Content Marketing, and then at Glance Marketing, a boutique content-marketing focused agency.
At Glance, Josh developed and executed content strategies, managed client relationships, and helped lead the organization’s own marketing and culture-building activities.
At Brainrider, Josh led content strategy development efforts for the company’s enterprise level client accounts directly, delivering pipeline-focused lead generation content marketing strategies and content calendars mapped against customer buying journeys, and led the internal content team in the execution of those strategies.
Before that, Josh spent four years at Livingston International, first as a writer before moving into management, taking on the Manager, Content Marketing role in 2014. It was here that Josh discovered his passion for relationship management, team leadership and mentoring young marketers.
Josh is a graduate of Sheridan College’s Print Journalism program; like many marketers, he got his start in journalism before switching to the marketing side (with a brief technical writing pit-stop in between).
Josh lives in Toronto with his wife, their two cats, and a giant collection of comic books.
